We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer for our Linker to strengthen our development team and contribute to building high-quality compiler tools. The position is open in Germany (Munich area) and the Netherlands (Amersfoort).

Who are we?

TASKING is a leading provider of development tools headquartered in Munich, Germany, offering high-performance, high-quality, safety & security-oriented embedded software development tools for multi-core architectures. Our development tools are used by automotive manufacturers and suppliers, as well as in adjacent markets around the world to realize high-performance applications in safety-critical areas.

As the recognized leader in high-quality, feature- and safety-compliant embedded software development tools, TASKING enables you to create code with best-in-class size and performance with compilers, debuggers and RTOS support for industry-leading microprocessors and microcontrollers.

Our customers are served from sales offices in the EU, US, China, Japan, Korea and India. Product development facilities are in Munich (DE), Amersfoort (NL) and Ljubljana (SI).

Join us at TASKING and contribute to the success of our customers and the growth of our company!

What will you do?

In this role, you will work across the full engineering lifecycle - from analyzing requirements to delivering production-ready software - while collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and safety/security experts. If you enjoy solving complex engineering problems and want to grow your expertise in linker-related technology, this role is for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Linker development: Design, enhance, and optimize static and dynamic linkers for our target platforms.
  • Low-Level Manipulation: Work heavily with Executable and Linkable Format (ELF) internals, symbol versioning, relocation, and memory mapping.
  • Software Integration: Collaborate with compiler teams to deliver a cohesive, high-performance toolchain.
  • Performance Optimization: Debug, profile, and optimize link-time and runtime execution overheads to fit embedded and resource-constrained environments.
  • Improve existing target-specific linkers and support engineers with expert insights.
  • Contribute to the development and application of Safety & Security standards.

Qualifications:

  • Strong programming skills with excellent proficiency in C/C++.
  • Familiarity with multiple programming languages and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Strong, demonstrated understanding of linker internals (ELF, PLT/GOT, relocations, debugging data).
  • Strong understanding of linker script files and their design.
  • Experience contributing to proprietary or open-source toolchain projects or experience developing static analysis tools.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with significant technical impact on product functionality.
  • Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills.
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience.

What do we offer:

You will work in an informal, international, professionally challenging workspace, with flexible working hours and a hybrid working environment to fit your personal needs. Continuing professional growth is provided to ensure you remain at the top of your field and keep abreast of industry developments. We believe your talent can add great value to our team. In return, we offer you the opportunity to build a career within our internationally oriented organization.

And, it goes without saying that you will be compensated competitively, according to an international benchmark.
