This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer II - Maps Services in United States. This role offers the opportunity to shape and advance a large-scale mapping platform that powers commercial fleet operations. You will design and implement robust backend and frontend services for map data, routing, and optimization, directly impacting fleet efficiency, safety, and compliance. The position involves solving complex problems, translating real-world logistical challenges into scalable software, and collaborating closely with product and engineering teams. You will contribute to building a resilient, high-performance maps infrastructure while mentoring junior engineers and advocating technical excellence. This is a fully remote role for candidates in the U.S. and Canada, offering the chance to work on mission-critical systems that support thousands of vehicles and millions of data points. Accountabilities: Design, implement, and scale backend and frontend services for mapping, routing, geocoding, and route optimization. Build pipelines and infrastructure for generating layered map data and map tiles. Collaborate with product, routing, and safety teams to define technical direction and ensure solutions align with customer needs. Advocate for technical excellence, scalability, and long-term maintainability. Communicate technical work to cross-functional teams, maintaining a strong feedback loop. Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of learning and growth. Navigate trade-offs between speed and long-term architecture, prioritizing customer impact. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of software engineering experience, including backend or fullstack development. Strong programming and coding fundamentals, with experience designing and architecting high-scale systems. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills. Proven ability to execute in ambiguous environments and deliver customer value. Experience shaping or improving mapping, routing, or navigation systems is a plus. Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to team growth. Experience in 0→1 teams and scaling them through growth phases is desirable.
