REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Strong programming skills in one or more languages (e.g., Node, JS, Java, Python)

  • In-depth knowledge of test automation frameworks (Selenium WebDriver, Appium, Cypress, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms like Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or AWS Device Farm for cross-device testing
  • Hands-on experience with testing web and mobile applications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

The Customer Products group works on our award winning website, iOS and Android apps.

Most Engineers work across the entire stack, although many have expertise with particular technologies and domains, for example client-side, performance, accessibility, building APIs, security and integration. We deploy to production many times a day and have full ownership of releases, the tools we use and site reliability.
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer in Test Automation to join our multi-disciplinary team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of both ft.com and our apps. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and execute comprehensive end-to-end automated tests for both desktop and mobile platforms.
Key responsibilities
Test Automation Framework Development and Maintenance:

Design, develop, and maintain robust test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Appium, Cypress)

  • Experience with cloud-based platforms like Sauce Labs, BrowserStack, or AWS Device Farm for cross-device testing
  • Integrate test automation frameworks with CI/CD pipelines

    • Optimize test execution time and maintain test suites
      Test Case Design and Execution:

Develop and execute comprehensive test cases to cover various scenarios, including functional, regression, and performance testing

  • Collaborate with development teams to understand system requirements and identify testing needs

    • Analyze test results, identify defects, and track them to resolution
      Test Data Management:
      Create and manage test data to ensure accurate and reliable testing


    • Implement data-driven testing techniques to maximise test coverage

      Collaboration and Communication:

    Collaborate effectively with development, QA, and product teams to ensure high-quality deliverables

    • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

      • Stay up-to-date with the latest testing tools, techniques, and industry trends
