The Senior Software Test Engineer Opportunity Okta is seeking an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer as an infrastructure quality engineer for our Data Platform team. We are looking for a candidate who embraces total ownership and is passionate about automated infrastructure, engineering process, and quality assurance in the whole CI/CD pipeline with AI adoption to best serve the quality of our data streaming processing and ML platform. What you’ll be doing Automate API tests, End-to-End tests, reliability/scale tests Review requirements and design specs to develop relative test plans and test cases Work with engineering management to scope and plan engineering efforts Clearly communicate and document QE plans for scrum teams to review and comment Automate all critical features to maintain zero-debt cadence Release features with solid quality to customers Respond to Production issues/alerts and customer issues during on-call rotation Work with ETL frameworks such as Apache Airflow, dbt, or Informatica and message queues like Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar tools for data ingestion. Familiarity with modern data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift, and traditional systems like Hive or PostgreSQL Help with mentoring new hires and interns. What you’ll bring to the role 5+ years of quality engineering with hands-on test automation experience 5+ years experience with Selenium and/or API testing using Java 5+ years of experience with observability tools (Splunk, Datadog, Grafana) B.S. Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) Proficiency in SQL and Python for data validation, scripting, and automation. Experience developing of high-quality automation and software tests with minimum supervision and guidance Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Gemini, OpenAI API, Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) to enhance productivity and problem-solving. Ability to integrate AI-powered assistants into daily workflows to improve efficiency in research, documentation, coding, and communication. Continuous learning mindset with the ability to adapt to new and evolving AI technologies Ability to quickly learn new technologies and provide input tooling. As the Director of Infrastructure Platform and Shared Services you will oversee multiple teams focused on Edge networking, K8s platform, CI/CD, Observability, automation platform & tooling. What you’ll be doing Lead the Infra platform and shared services org and various initiatives across SRE & Infrastructure organization. Lead the DevOps transformation, microservice journey, and next generation Infra platform capabilities in partnership with architects and product engineering Build a world-class observability platform and monitoring capabilities enabled with self-service Accelerate the velocity of SRE and product engineering by developing robust platforms, powerful tooling, and intuitive self-service capabilities. Own the design and operation of scalable, self-service Cloud infrastructure platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, service mesh, CI/CD pipelines, IaC & Edge Infrastructure) Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers and managers across platform, infrastructure, and shared services domains. Perform engineering design evaluations and ensure the completion of projects within resource, budget, and scheduling constraints. Improve SDLC processes for Cloud infrastructure as a code, including the maturity of CI/CD pipelines, change and release management Manage service and business expectations and prioritize resource allocation Maintain a deep knowledge of industry best practices, evolving trends, and technologies What you’ll bring to the role 8+ years of experience in technical leadership & people management Extensive experience using Agile and DevOps methodologies to build product infrastructure and shared service at scale 3+ years of experience running large-scale infrastructure platforms supporting a SaaS/Cloud service in a public Cloud, preferably AWS. Experience supporting a multi-Cloud environment will be a plus. Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures, containerization (Kubernetes), IaC (Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines Strong background and hands-on experience in SW development, PaaS and automation Deep experience with building and operating observability platforms and monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk, APM etc.) in a large scale environment. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large-scale programs Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills Computer Science Degree or related degree or equivalent experience Additional requirements: This position requires the ability to access federal environments and/or have access to protected federal data. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
