Job Description Job Title: Senior Cloud Engineer Department: Cloud CoE Line Manager’s Job Title: Lead Cloud Engineer Location: India Version Date: April 2026 Job Purpose The Senior Cloud Engineer is a hands-on, delivery-focused individual with 5–8 years of experience responsible for implementing and maintaining Azure platform services, Terraform infrastructure as code, Azure pipelines, and networking solutions across environments. The Senior Cloud Engineer will bring their experience to a talented group to further evolve the technical capabilities of OSB, drive improvements across platform processes and unlock cloud capabilities for the group. The Senior Cloud Engineer will be a part of the Cloud Centre of Excellence and will work with multiple teams within OSB, such as the architecture review board, Engineering Teams, Cloud security team, IT operations, etc., to ensure comprehensive coverage of requirements for the Azure platform across the Group Core Responsibilities Implement, maintain, and optimize Azure platform services, Terraform-based infrastructure, Azure pipelines, and networking (including Hub & Spoke and ExpressRoute) to support engineering teams in delivering reliable and efficient products. Collaborate with the Cloud Security Architect, SecOps and other teams to define and achieve platform and networking objectives for projects and programmes, in alignment with business and functional requirements. Integrate platform best practices, governance, policies, standards, and procedures into the development lifecycle, managing operational and infrastructure risks. Develop, test, and deploy infrastructure-as-code for Azure services, networking components, and CI/CD pipelines, leveraging native services and approved technologies. Ensure compliance with industry-standard controls such as CIS/NIST/GDPR/ISO/CSA CCM, and provide support with their implementation. Support architects in making design choices that consider scalability, resilience, and maintainability within Azure platform services and pipelines. Collaborate with application development teams to enable seamless integration with Azure pipelines and platform services. Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement among technical and business teams. Support with remediating platform, infrastructure, and networking issues across environments. Research and utilise modern Azure technologies to meet product requirements, compliance, and controls to enhance OSB’s platform capabilities. Integrate Azure networking services, including private connectivity and routing, with various tools and applications. Utilize infrastructure and platform engineering practices to automate provisioning, configuration, and governance across environments. Continuously monitor and improve OSB's Azure platform posture using native monitoring tools and guardrails. Experience Requirements Strong hands-on expertise in Azure platform engineering, primarily on Azure, including Azure DevOps and cloud-native services. Strong experience with Helm, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions/GitLab) for platform deployments and automation. Experience working with Azure Repos/Git, Azure Pipelines, Azure Artefact Feeds, Azure Key Vault, AKS, and Azure Container Registry. Automate infrastructure validation, security scanning, and compliance checks within pipelines using tools like SonarQube, Checkov, Trivy, and Snyk. Develop and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates for Azure platform services. Enable secrets management and key rotation using Azure Key Vault and integrated platform tooling. Collaborate with Security teams to align platform posture with enterprise governance and compliance guidelines. Design, implement, and manage Azure networking components including Hub & Spoke architecture, ExpressRoute, private endpoints, NSGs, UDRs, and DNS. Monitor and respond to platform alerts and perform vulnerability and configuration assessments. Maintain logging, monitoring, and observability systems (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Microsoft Defender for Cloud). Advocate platform engineering best practices and support development teams with reusable modules and templates. Own the lifecycle of AKS clusters: provisioning, upgrading, scaling, monitoring, and patching (control plane & node pools). • Manage, monitor, and secure AKS clusters including node pools, autoscaling, network policies, and pod security standards. • Enable network policies, ingress/egress controls, and service mesh configurations to enforce secure and scalable AKS environments. • Perform regular AKS upgrades, patching, and version compatibility checks. • Implement and manage container platform controls within AKS using Azure Policy, OPA/Gatekeeper, or native services. • Implement service mesh (e.g., Istio) for traffic routing, security policies (mTLS, ingress/egress), and observability. • Integrate Terraform-based modules to provision and manage secure Azure infrastructure and networking. • Configure and manage Azure networking (Hub & Spoke, ExpressRoute, private connectivity, routing, and DNS) and core platform services. • Basic understanding of Apache Kafka, including topics, brokers, and integration patterns in a microservices environment. • Ability to create threat models (STRIDE/MITRE ATT&CK) and define application and platform-level controls and mitigations. Knowledge Requirements Azure Platform services and architecture (including AKS, PaaS, and IaaS) Infrastructure as Code using Terraform (and/or Bicep/ARM) Azure networking concepts (Hub & Spoke, ExpressRoute, private endpoints, DNS) CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools Skill and Competency Requirements Strong hands-on experience with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages, applying clean code and automation best practices. Proven experience building and managing Azure Pipelines (YAML) for production deployments using zero-downtime strategies (blue/green, canary). Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for Azure platform and networking provisioning. Strong experience with Kubernetes (AKS), including cluster operations, scaling, upgrades, and Helm-based deployments. Experience with container ecosystems including Docker and artifact management tools (Azure Artifacts/JFrog). Solid understanding of Azure networking (Hub & Spoke, ExpressRoute, private endpoints, routing, DNS). Experience implementing and managing service mesh technologies (Istio/Envoy) for traffic control and observability. Strong knowledge of monitoring and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and alerting frameworks. Experience with cloud migration strategies (6R framework) and delivering workload migrations to Azure.
