Description
Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure Dalio Family Office Dalio Family Office Overview: The Dalio Family Office (DFO) supports Barbara and Ray Dalio and their family in their ventures, investments, and philanthropic efforts under Dalio Philanthropies, which includes OceanX, Dalio Education, Endless Network, and the Beijing Dalio Foundation. The core of the DFO’s culture is built around meaningful work and meaningful relationships and the family’s commitment to giving back. The office is headquartered in Westport, CT with regional offices in New York City, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi. Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering background combined with deep expertise in AWS, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), CI/CD pipelines, automation, Linux systems, and modern observability stacks. This role is software-engineering–first, with a focus on building and maintaining production systems and platforms, while also owning infrastructure, deployment, and reliability concerns through code. You will play a critical role in enabling scalable, secure, and reliable systems across our technological landscape while applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to reduce operational toil and improve system resilience. Day-to-day responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain production software systems and services, primarily in Python and TypeScript, supporting internal platforms and business-critical applications. Spend most of the time (~70%) writing, reviewing, and maintaining production code, with the remaining time focused on infrastructure, reliability, and operational responsibilities. Develop infrastructure and platform capabilities through code using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation to enable scalable, secure, and reliable systems on AWS. Build and evolve CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling (GitLab preferred) as software systems, focusing on reliability, speed, and developer experience. Design and implement automation, tooling, and internal services to support deployment, monitoring, operational workflows, and system lifecycle management. Contribute to containerized application development and deployment using Docker and Kubernetes. Collaborate closely with application, product, and platform teams to improve system architecture, reliability, and long-term maintainability. Idea Candidate Profile: Strong software engineering background, with experience building and maintaining production systems in Python and/or TypeScript. Experience designing and operating cloud-based systems on AWS, with a solid understanding of scalability, reliability, and security. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform and/or CloudFormation. Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation, ideally using GitLab. Experience working with containerized applications, including Docker (Kubernetes experience is a plus). Comfortable working in Linux-based environments, with the ability to debug and optimize systems as part of a broader software platform. Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Loki) and a mindset of building reliability into systems through code. Understanding of SRE concepts, including incident response, postmortems, error budgets, and reducing operational toil through engineering. Strong collaboration and communication skills, able to work effectively across product, platform, and infrastructure teams in a fast-paced environment. A product- and engineering-first mindset, valuing maintainable code, automation, and long-term system health over manual or ad-hoc solutions. Illustrative Benefits: 100% company paid medical premiums 17 company paid holidays Friday summer hours Monthly community happy hours Hybrid work environment Free catered food services for in-office days Generous PTO offering Casual dress code 150% 401(k) match up to $7,500 and 100% match above $7,500 ($15k match limit) Gym reimbursement, back up childcare services, insurance, financial, and legal services, and much more! Qualifications: 5+ Years of experience and a proven track record as a SDE, Infra Eng, DevOps Engineer, SRE, or similar role. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Compensation: Compensation for the role includes a competitive salary in the range from $150,000 -$250,000 (inclusive of a merit-based bonus, dependent on years of experience, level of education obtained, as well as applicable skillset) and an excellent benefits package, including a comprehensive employer paid medical plan and generous employer match for 401k.
