PagerDuty is seeking a Senior Software Engineer IV - PagerDuty Automation to join our diverse, customer-focused team! As a Senior Software Engineer IV, you will focus on automation everywhere, workflow automation, AI Agents, and the PagerDuty platform. This is an exciting opportunity to drive automation everywhere at PagerDuty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in TypeScript, Node, AWS, and leading technical architecture for large scale SaaS products.
PagerDuty Workflow Automation empowers organizations to streamline and automate complex incident and operational workflows, reducing downtime and accelerating incident resolution. As a critical part of PagerDuty’s platform, Workflow Automation integrates seamlessly with existing tools, providing intuitive solutions that transform how teams respond to and manage incidents in real time.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in software engineering roles with progressive responsibilities, including at least 2 years in a technical leadership or senior engineer capacity.
- Proven experience developing robust, scalable applications with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures at scale.
- Demonstrated expertise in building SaaS products, specifically leveraging AWS cloud infrastructure and services (e.g., Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS).
- Proven ability to lead cross-team technology initiatives, influencing architectural direction and ensuring alignment across multiple engineering teams.
- Comfortable participating in PagerDuty’s on-call rotation to ensure high availability of mission-critical systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with event-driven architectures, workflow engines, or automation platforms.
- Expertise in DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Circle CI/Buildkite, GitHub Actions), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation), and monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Track record of mentoring junior engineers, providing technical leadership, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences across the organization.

The base salary range for this position is 137,000 - 207,000 CAD. This role may also be eligible for bonus, commission, equity, and/or benefits.
Our base salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range, which is subject to change based on primary work location, reflects the minimum and maximum base salary we expect to pay newly hired employees for the position. Within the range, we determine pay for an individual based on a number of factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills/competencies and experience.
