Description

Starship Technologies is revolutionizing deliveries with autonomous robots. These robots are designed to deliver food, groceries, and packages across college campuses and neighborhoods in minutes. Starship has now completed millions of autonomous deliveries to date, traveled millions of miles, and is currently doing more than 140k road crossings each day. Our contribution to society includes reducing congestion, and pollution, providing zero-emissions deliveries, increasing the quality of life for residents, empowering seniors and disabled people, and enabling affordable delivery for local businesses.
We’re hitting records on an almost weekly basis. Now is an exciting time to join as we grow rapidly around the world!
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Marketplace team. Our Marketplace team develops and operates our e-commerce platform, managing the entire order journey, from purchase to fulfillment and delivery, to ensure a seamless end-to-end experience.

Responsibilities
  • Architect and own the backend of our marketplace platform — from designing core services to optimizing high-scale APIs that power real-time buyer and seller experiences
  • Lead the development of asynchronous, distributed systems that are resilient, secure, and built for scale
  • Collaborate closely with product, frontend, and design teams to turn bold ideas into seamless backend solutions
  • Drive performance and reliability, ensuring uptime and speed across critical marketplace features like payments, listings, and user matching
  • Mentor and support other engineers, sharing knowledge and raising the bar across the backend team
  • Contribute to strategic tech decisions, from choosing the right tools to defining long-term architecture for growth
