Overview The Microsoft Path team empowers customers to move seamlessly from Idea → Plan → Done, delivering collaborative work management solutions across Microsoft Project, Planner, To Do, Whiteboard, and Visio. Path is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to work on this foundational effort which will eliminate complexity, streamline user experiences, and enable AI-driven productivity for millions of users worldwide. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Path team, you’ll partner with stakeholders to translate business goals into engineering plans and execute them with a relentless focus on security, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Solve complex challenges in distributed systems: geo-replication, disaster recovery, data migration, and work distribution. Design robust APIs and object models powering new experiences across web and mobile. Champion Live Site culture, innovating to achieve high reliability and customer delight. Partner with Product Management to design, implement, test, and iterate features for 10x growth in usage. Ensure secure, high-quality product delivery, overseeing system architecture and code quality. Mentor engineers, shaping the vision for agentic AI-powered work management. Seek new knowledge, adapt to trends, and apply technical solutions and patterns to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance across products, driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience, either back-end or full-stack with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. 1+ year(s) experience with NOSQL databases and high volume / throughput web applications and their design 4+ years of full-stack experience developing distributed web service applications with highly concurrent server-side code. 4+ years of experience in programming in C#. 4+ years of experience creating, releasing, and evolving large commercial software components or products at scale. 4+ years experience collaborating across teams to deliver complete features and end-to-end customer experiences. Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year. Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will solve complex challenges in distributed systems and design robust APIs and object models. They will also ensure secure, high-quality product delivery and mentor engineers.
