Description
Microsoft 365 is Microsoft’s hosted productivity suite which is well aligned with our mission ‘to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more’. This suite has hundreds of millions of users around the globe and includes services such as Sharepoint, Exchange and Outlook.com, Teams, Office Graph and OneDrive.   The prime responsibility of the M365 Substrate Unified Routing Fabric team is to make the Microsoft 365 applications responsive by optimizing network access to the backend servers. We run a high scale distributed service that routes tens of trillions of requests per day and moves petabytes of data. This includes both user-to-service and service-to-service communication. Our software services end user requests and will proxy the connections accurately to the backend services in the most optimal way possible to achieve ever improving low-latency goals. Example technologies that we work with include load balancing, connection management, throttling, distributed caching, web application firewall, Domain Name System (DNS), and HTTP/3.   As a Senior Software Engineer, our team is pioneering the next generation of cloud proxy architecture through Nanoproxy—a lightweight, high-performance native proxy designed to replace legacy IIS-based (Internet Information Services) solutions and enable a microservices-based future for Microsoft’s cloud. With the MIRA (M365 Integrated Routing Architecture) this team now handles traffic for major M365 workloads like Teams and SharePoint Online, providing enhanced routing, resilience, and security. The team is known for technical excellence, a culture of innovation, and a commitment to operational impact at massive scale.   Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
