Description
Who we are Theseus builds visual positioning systems for autonomous aircraft operating in GPS-denied and contested environments. Our software enables reliable navigation and mission execution when conventional navigation systems fail, and our products are already being deployed in real-world operational settings. We are building the software stack that turns advanced autonomy, mapping, and mission capabilities into practical systems operators can rely on in the field. That includes the software used to configure systems, plan missions, move maps and data through operational workflows, and understand mission performance before, during, and after deployment. The role We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build the software layer operators rely on before, during, and after mission execution. This is a product-oriented engineering role for someone who has experience building software for operators or other demanding real-world users and can work across the stack. You will contribute to the APIs that live on the edge and interface with deployed systems, the backend services that support map generation and mission workflows, and the frontend applications operators use, including Vozilla and related tools. You should be comfortable building reliable, understandable, user-facing systems in environments where performance, clarity, and operational usefulness matter. You will: * Build operator-facing software across mission planning, data workflows, and mission analysis * Develop frontend applications, backend services, and internal APIs across edge and cloud systems * Work across React, TypeScript, Python, and database-backed systems to support deployed products and map-generation workflows * Partner with autonomy, field, and integration teams to translate operational needs into reliable product features * Move quickly from ambiguous user needs to shipped software, improving reliability, performance, and usability through feedback from real deployments  You should have the following * 3+ years of experience building software products for operators or other users with demanding workflows * Experience owning and shipping production systems across frontend, backend, and API layers * Strong judgment about how to make software clear, dependable, and usable in operational settings * Ability to translate ambiguous user needs into pragmatic product and engineering decisions * Strong proficiency in TypeScript, React, and Python * Experience designing and working with databases and common database frameworks * Experience building and maintaining backend services, internal APIs, and data-intensive applications * Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across highly collaborative technical teams  Nice to have * Experience building software for robotics, aerospace, defense, industrial, or other operationally demanding environments * Experience with mapping, geospatial systems, mission planning tools, or telemetry-heavy applications * Experience building software that spans cloud services and edge-deployed systems
Responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building the software layer that operators rely on across mission planning, data workflows, and mission analysis, contributing to frontend applications, backend services, and internal APIs across edge and cloud systems. This involves partnering with various teams to translate operational needs into reliable product features and rapidly moving from ambiguous user needs to shipped software.
