About the role Build. Automate. Improve. At Southern Cross Health Insurance, we’re building and evolving the technology platforms that support how our digital products are delivered. Our Delivery Engineering team focuses on the systems, pipelines, and infrastructure that enable engineers across the organisation to build, test, and deploy software reliably and efficiently. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of infrastructure, automation, and developer experience, helping shape the platforms and delivery practices that support teams across the business. This role sits within our Platform Services - Delivery Engineering team and focuses on improving how software moves through environments, from build and deployment pipelines through to cloud infrastructure and container platforms. You’ll work closely with engineers across the organisation to improve automation, simplify delivery processes, and strengthen the reliability and security of our platforms. About the role This is a hands-on engineering role focused on improving how technology is delivered across Southern Cross. You’ll contribute to the systems and tooling that underpin our engineering environments - helping teams ship software safely, consistently, and at pace. Your work will include: Designing and improving CI/CD pipelines and automation that support delivery across engineering teams Building and managing infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code Supporting container and cloud platforms across Azure, OpenShift, and on-prem environments Improving developer environments and tooling to support faster, more reliable development Automating deployment processes and reducing manual operational overhead Working with engineering teams to improve delivery pipelines, standards, and platform reliability Contributing to platform documentation, patterns, and practices that enable consistent delivery Experience required Technical experience Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery automation Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and container platforms such as OpenShift or Kubernetes Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code approaches to provisioning and managing environments Experience working with containerised applications and deployment pipelines Experience with scripting or development languages such as Python, Go, C#, Java, or Shell Strong troubleshooting and systems thinking across infrastructure, pipelines, and application environments Contribute to engineering standards and practices that support reliable, secure, and consistent software delivery across the platform.
