About the Job: The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Engineering (RHEL) team is looking for a skilled and passionate developer with Linux experience and programming skills to join us as a Senior Software Engineer. In this role you will focus on developing, deploying, integrating and validating RHEL workloads on multiple public clouds including AWS, GCP and Azure. You will work in an environment where diverse perspectives are invited, the best ideas are valued, and people feel empowered to contribute. You will work as part of a distributed self-organizing team in close collaboration and regular communication with other team members and upstream developers, and will be at the forefront of our most exciting new initiatives. What you will do? Participate in the RHEL development, bug fix and code/feature validation for multiple public clouds Troubleshoot a diverse range of problems related to RHEL in cloud environments Grow as a mature team player and lead new features/solutions in technical perspective by collaborating with stakeholders Participate in technical discussions, team brainstorming sessions and plannings to contribute to next-generation of features and innovations Cooperate with other engineering teams across RHEL for joint-efforts solutions or initiatives. Leverage AI-assisted development and/or validation tools and techniques and integrate to the day to day work to optimize What you will bring? 5+ years of development experience Strong programming skills in C and Python Experience working with open source projects and tools. Understanding and experience using and developing on Linux-based operating systems Understanding of how open source and free software communities work Interest in open source software development, preferably with a record of contributions to projects Proven ability to interact and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Good written and spoken communication in English Motivation to grow and leadership skills The following are considered as a plus: Experience with public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle Cloud, VMware, Hyperv, etc) regarding deployment, operations, etc. Experience or understanding of Linux virtualization stack (KVM, QEMU, Libvirt, containers, etc) is considered as a plus Previous code contributions to or participation in open source projects or code samples on GitHub Experience to contribute to all aspects of the development process, including testing to ensure the quality and functionality of the code Public speaking opportunities at conferences, Blogs or articles published About Red Hat Red Hat is the world’s leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, using a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
