The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our Space Mission Systems (SMS) Ground Mission Management (GMM) team in Colorado Spring, CO. We are seeking a software engineering manager with agile leadership knowledge to help lead software develop and Software Engineering capability management. This leader should be passionate about space domain and motivated to be part of a multi-disciplined, collaborative engineering environment that supports the design, development, and implementation of software for Boeing built government space domain ground products!
The position includes Product Manager responsibilities that include leading a large software development program, including ~18 direct reports, and help lead teams that build the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. Working with commercial, government, and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • 3+ years of experience years of experience leading projects and/or individuals in software development lifecycle tasks (including Software Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)
  • 3+ years of experience with modern software development design practices and agile methodologies
  • Experience managing and/or leading a team either formally or informally, with the ability to provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance post-start

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience with MILSATCOM and/or satellite domain ground mission capabilities
  • Experience being part of a complex software development program
  • Experience as an Agile Scrum Master, Release Train Engineer, Product Owner, Product Manager, and/or Technical Lead using the Agile practice such as Scaled Agile (SAFe) framework.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and continuous integration pipelines
  • Solid understanding of Java/C++ full stack development and object-oriented programming skills
  • Active or previously held TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience with customer or stakeholder engagement, presenting, and new business
  • Experience with Atlassian and GIT software products
    Travel: Less than 25%

  • Forecast, obtain, and manage personnel to meet project and organizational requirements; acquire, deploy and schedule personnel to meet organizational objectives
