Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Software Specialist on Military Command and Control Software systems.
  • Must hold a valid Secret level clearance with PSPC/Pubic Works.
  • Proof of Masters of Engineering in software, computer, systems, electrical or technical field required to support Land C4ISR.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience providing advice, guidance and recommendations on technical issues to support the decision making of senior management, and leading multi-disciplinary teams in the development of IT tactical systems frameworks or strategies.
  • Minimum of 12 years experience in the last 14 years in a Software Specialist role performing at least 4 of the following tasks:
  • Software engineering within a Client/Server Environment or Collaborative Environments.
  • Managing, Analyzing, Designing, Modeling, and Implementing software systems.
  • Communications engineering (Hardware, Software and Network) or Specialty Engineering (Security, Modeling and Simulation, ISR)
  • Software Engineering for Real-Time systems, Distributed Systems, embedded systems or mission critical systems environments.
  • Software Integration: hardware and software, (COTS and/or custom developed) components into new or existing systems; and
  • System life-cycle management for software systems.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the development, deployment and sustainment of TACIS.
  • Operate and maintain TACIS central database and train TACIS users.
  • Data administration which includes maintaining reference data related to Units, Platforms, LCSS Communication Suites, Parts, Check lists, Functions, CAGEs, Platform Assets and Part Assets
  • Validating the creation of new Part Assets that are initiated by field users.
  • Conducting periodic data consistency checks between TACIS and DRMIS databases, and making adjustments to data (in either or both systems) as required.
  • Performing Central Data Admin functions in DRMIS for all Communications Suites and related data.
  • Providing first line user support, including resolving TACIS data-related problems and assisting users with TACIS usage difficulties.
  • Providing on-site TACIS training to end-users.
  • Providing Life Cycle Material Management support for TACIS hand-held and laptop computer components.
  • Reviewing and providing recommendations regarding functional CRs and upgrades.
  • Support TACIS requirements definition, including refining high level user requirement into detailed technical requirements. Review existing TACIS functionality to ensure it meets user requirements. Ability to track LCSS equipment within a multi-level hierarchy (beyond the current unit/platform/structure);
  • Upgrade TACIS front-end components (i.e. TACIS-PC and TACIS-DT) to address technology obsolescence issues.
