Your work will contribute to strategic enforcement outcomes and help shape Victoria’s environmental future. In this role you will: Lead and support litigation in VCAT and the Supreme Court. Manage a caseload of criminal and civil enforcement proceedings. Appear in court and draft legal advice across a range of matters. Advise on regulatory activity including permissions, notices, and statutory powers. Assist with criminal prosecutions and mentor junior staff. Contribute to legal policy, FOI, and corporate legal affairs. Collaborate across the legal team and contribute to team development. Manage 1–2 direct reports and support broader mentoring within the team. Skills and experience: A degree in law and admission to practice as an Australian legal practitioner. Minimum four years post-admission experience in a similar role, ideally within regulatory or government legal practice. Strong knowledge of civil litigation, administrative law, and regulatory frameworks. Experience advising on statutory powers, legal reviews, and enforcement matters. Proven ability to manage complex legal files and contribute to strategic legal outcomes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clear, persuasive legal writing.
