Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Solicitor, you will:

  • Supervise and lead a team of legal officers in providing timely high-quality legal advice or to develop and maintain plain language legal information resources.
  • Support and guide staff in the provision of high-quality legal advice, minor assistance and customer service.
  • Monitor legal developments to ensure the team’s knowledge and resources are up to date.
  • Resource staff with relevant training and information.

The Statewide Advice Team (SWAT) works flexibly and staff attend the Parramatta office in accordance with the SWAT Office Flexible Work Plan. In addition, under Legal Aid NSW’s Flexible Work policy, Senior Solicitors are required to be onsite with their team for training and supervision.

THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE

You must:

  • be admitted or be eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW
  • be able to provide a current unrestricted NSW Practising Certificate before you start work with us
  • be willing to do a Criminal Record Check
  • hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
