This Senior Solution Designer role sits within the Business Banking domain, delivering Business Lending origination technology solutions across both digital (customer‑facing) and staff‑assisted channels. The role supports the design and delivery of group‑critical, enterprise‑scale applications that underpin key digital and frontline banking capabilities across the organisation. These platforms are mission‑critical, supporting high‑volume origination journeys and internal servicing workflows, and require strong alignment with architectural standards, security, and regulatory obligations. What’s the Role: The Senior Solution Designer is responsible for delivering detailed, high‑quality technical designs for initiatives within a defined domain. This role provides expert technical and domain leadership to both business and IT stakeholders, ensuring solutions are robust, compliant, and fit for purpose. The position spans the full application lifecycle, including solution design, development, maintenance, support, system selection, configuration, implementation, and enhancement across multiple domains. The Senior Solution Designer plays a critical role in translating business requirements into sustainable technical solutions while ensuring alignment with architectural standards and enterprise strategy. The Role: Act as a trusted consultant to the broader IT community, providing technical and domain expertise to uplift solution quality and support critical application systems. Set direction and provide oversight for the consistent use of tools, standards, methods, and processes, ensuring solutions are high‑quality, maintainable, compliant, and scalable. Apply deep system and application knowledge to guide architecture and solution design toward optimal technical and business outcomes. Produce accurate design and development cost estimates in collaboration with Architects, Business Analysts, Project Managers, SMEs, and external vendors. Provide subject matter expertise across the full application lifecycle, including incident recovery, problem resolution, service continuity, and system integration. Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex, cross‑application and infrastructure issues throughout the delivery and operational lifecycle. Review and validate complex change proposals, ensuring the ongoing stability, resilience, and sustainability of business services. Ensure all solutions adhere to Westpac standards, policies, and regulatory obligations. Track solutions through all delivery phases, proactively identifying and escalating risks to maintain governance and control. Provide high‑level technical guidance to internal stakeholders and supplier partners. Foster a collaborative “one team” culture across Westpac and vendor teams. Stay current with industry and technology trends, using insights to inform strategic, architectural, and design recommendations. What do I need? Experience working with modern software architectures and an awareness of emerging technologies Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline Advanced problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, with a consultative approach to solution design Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage both technical and business stakeholders Solid understanding of a financial services operating environment, including applications and products Proven experience in systems integration Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with RESTful API principles Demonstrated understanding and implementation of software design patterns Desirable experience Exposure to state machines and Domain‑Driven Design (DDD) Experience within the Business Lending domain Why join us?
