Description
Description We’re seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to lead the architecture, design, and technical governance of mission-critical classified IT services supporting enterprise productivity, application delivery, and datacenter capabilities across multiple enclaves (Unclassified/Secret/TS/SCI). This role drives end-to-end solution design—from requirements through implementation—ensuring high availability, strong security posture, and operational excellence across distributed CONUS/OCONUS locations. What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) Own end-to-end solution architecture for classified enterprise services, aligning designs to approved architectures, standards, and policies. Translate mission and program requirements into practical, supportable technical solutions across datacenter, virtual infrastructure, endpoint, application, and network domains. Develop architectural models and design documentation (logical/physical diagrams, implementation plans, validation steps, and operational runbooks/SOPs). Ensure designs meet performance objectives (including =99% availability) and operational recovery objectives (including return-to-operations expectations) through resiliency patterns, DR/COOP alignment, and validation testing. Lead technical planning and engineering for virtualized datacenter services (VMware), Windows and Red Hat server environments, storage/backup integrations, and modernization initiatives. Provide architecture oversight for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and enterprise end-user delivery patterns (including Citrix-based VDI), balancing security, usability, and maintainability. Partner with operations, cybersecurity, and service management teams to embed security controls, continuous monitoring, and compliance requirements into designs and implementations. Drive change planning and technical risk management through lab validation, implementation sequencing, rollback plans, and adherence to formal change control/CCB processes. Support incident resolution for complex, escalated issues; provide root cause analysis and implement durable corrective actions. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders (engineering, cybersecurity, service desk, project management) to ensure solutions can be monitored, supported, documented, and reported via the ITSM/ticketing system. Contribute to monthly/weekly technical reporting and focused service reviews, ensuring architecture decisions are reflected in current documentation and operational practices. Requirements Required Active Top Secret (TS) clearance 10+ years of progressive IT experience with 5+ years in solutions architecture for enterprise infrastructure and service delivery (preferably in regulated/government environments). Demonstrated experience architecting and implementing virtualized datacenter solutions (VMware) supporting Windows and Linux (Red Hat) workloads. Strong background with enterprise user services and collaboration platforms (e.g., email/messaging, productivity, file/content platforms) and delivering them securely at scale. Hands-on experience with VDI architectures (Citrix preferred), including performance, capacity planning, profiles/user environment management, and operational monitoring. Solid understanding of network and enclave connectivity concepts in classified environments and the ability to architect solutions that maintain compliance and minimize risk. Proven ability to lead technical design reviews, author architecture/design artifacts, and guide implementation teams through complex deployments. Experience with IT service management practices (incident/problem/change/configuration) and operating within structured change control processes. Bachelor's degree in relevant field (or comparable experience) Preferred Experience supporting classified enterprise environments that interface with external classified networks (e.g., SIPRNET/JWICS connectivity concepts). Familiarity with audit readiness, continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and integrating security tooling/controls into architecture decisions. Experience designing DR/COOP capabilities and validating restore/reconstitution procedures for critical services. Experience working with enterprise tooling such as ServiceNow (ITSM), Azure DevOps/TFS, monitoring/alerting platforms, and backup/storage solutions. One or more of: TOGAF, AWS/Azure architecture certs, VMware (VCP/VCAP), Microsoft (Azure/Windows Server), Cisco (CCNP), Security+ / CISSP (depending on background).
Responsibilities
This role is responsible for leading the architecture, design, and technical governance for mission-critical classified IT services supporting enterprise productivity and datacenter capabilities across various security enclaves. The architect will own the end-to-end solution design, ensuring high availability and strong security posture from requirements gathering through implementation.
