DESCRIPTION:

Seeking a highly motivated and self-directed professional to fill an opening for a Senior Solutions Architect role that will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative, scalable and secure technology solutions that address business needs for the Department of Veterans’ Affairs Health Finance and Community Care Portfolio business objectives. The Senior Solutions Architect will collaborate with software development teams, stakeholders, and business leaders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. He/she will oversee existing systems and identify areas for improvement and implement upgrades or new technologies as needed, provide strategic advice on technological trends and innovations that can enhance business processes and create and maintain documentation for architecture designs, processes, and system configurations.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

· Extensive experience in design and development of IT architecture
· Experience must include a wide range of work in creating diagrams and documentation with all components that comprise IT systems including network topology
· Experience architecting web services from a Node.js platform and MEAN technology stack
· Experience creating and reviewing technical designs for large and complex features, experience conducting code reviews for performance, standards and quality
· Experience designing middle tier architecture
· Ability to translate complex technical ideas into generally understood concepts
· Experience in various software designs, languages, and architecture
· Strong problem-solving skills
· Leadership skills to align IT solutions with business objectives.
· Exceptional Communication Skills: must demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication abilities. This includes clear, articulate speech that is easy to understand, and precise, well-structured written communication with strong grammar.
· Clarity and Professionalism in Interactions and ability to communicate ideas and information effectively to ensure easy understanding and engagement with diverse audiences.
· Experience with Agile/SAFe best practices
· Expérience DevSecOps CI/CD processes
· Knowledge of developing solutions in an iterative (agile) approach
· Knowledge of system configuration tools and implementation of architectural frameworks
· Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
· Experience with Application Lifecyle Management (ALM) tool Jira
· Attention to detail and strong customer service skills are preferred.
· Proficient with MS Office Suite
· Proven track record of designing and delivering complex technology solutions across multiple domains.
· Strong knowledge of enterprise systems, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and modern application architectures (microservices, APIs, etc.).
· Experience with cybersecurity / Zero Trust principles, data privacy, and compliance frameworks.
· Hands-on experience working in agile and DevsSecOps environments.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively across business and technical teams to achieve desired outcomes.
· Experience working in a fast-paced, Agile development environment
· Must be a U.S. Citizen
· Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security clearance.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

· Professional certifications such as TOGAF /DoDAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
· SAFe Solution Architect Certification
· Possess working knowledge of EDI Claims Processing / Transactions
· Working knowledge of applying AI / ML in developing USE Cases
· Experience working in large complex environments; VA, DoD, HHS, etc.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and digital transformation initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or equivalent and 10+ years of relevant experience
· 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
· Eight (8)+ years of experience in software development
· 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education

· Communicate and articulate technical solutions to various stakeholders
· Ensure proposed solutions align with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and compliance requirements.
· Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
· Conduct system evaluations and provide recommendations for improvements, optimizations, and innovations.
· Oversee integration of new solutions with existing systems and platforms.
· Develop architectural diagrams, documentation, and technical roadmaps to support solution design and implementation.
· Maintain As -Is and To-Be architectural documentation
· Design and implement technical solutions that align with business objectives and requirements
· Collaborate with various teams and stakeholders to provide seamless integration and communication throughout the program lifecycle.
· Analyze business processes to translate them into structured, scalable, and secure solutions.
· Ensure designed and implemented solution components work together effectively and efficiently.
· Stay up to date with emerging technologies, advocating for best practices and continuous improvement.
· Devise solutions to predicted problems, evaluating other options as needed
· Identify weaknesses or risks and make recommendations to mitigate
· Analyze problems and determine appropriate course correction measures as necessary
