We’re looking for a passionate and driven Senior Sous Chef to support the culinary operations of the Sunshine Coast Convention Centre – the region’s largest premier venue for conventions and events. In this role, you’ll help deliver exceptional food for a wide range of high-impact events – from conventions and exhibitions to gala dinners for up to 1,500 guests. Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll contribute to menu innovation, uphold culinary standards, and help lead a motivated, collaborative kitchen team.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re after a passionate, driven Senior Sous Chef with proven banqueting experience and a flair for leadership in high-volume, fast-paced environments.

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a similar leadership role, with strong banqueting experience essential
  • Hands-on leader who sets the tone, motivates the team, and leads by example across multiple sections
  • Strong communicator with the ability to delegate effectively and maintain high standards under pressure
  • Solutions-focused, adaptable, and always seeking ways to improve systems, service, and food quality
  • Able to work independently with initiative, precision, and attention to detail
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster including weekends, nights, and public holidays
  • Applicants must have full, unrestricted working rights in Australia to be considered for this role

Responsibilities
  • Support the Head Chef in overseeing daily culinary operations and ensuring consistent, high-quality food delivery
  • Mentor and develop junior chefs while assisting with recruitment, rostering, and payroll to build a strong, efficient team

  • Manage food costs, budgets, and inventory to maintain efficiency and profitability
