East City Grill is looking for a Senior Chef to join our opening team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be a good communicator, be fluent in English, have had at least 2 years experience in a Sous / Senior Chef role, will have a background in ’open-fire cooking’, be hands on and flexible in their approach and able to multi-task, have their own transport and will be an allrounder, hardworking and motivated person who excels at:
the smooth daily running of the kitchen, consistently executing food of high quality
be on duty for busy services, weekends and private events
supervision of team, training
lead the kitchen in head chefs absence
maintain prep systems, and ensure readiness for service
food purchasing
stock and cost controls within specified range
staff rostering and monthly wage cost within specified range
menu development and maintenance of quality standards
effective communication between BOH and FOH teams
hygiene, maintenance and health and safety standards are met
