The Black Bear is looking for an experienced Senior Sous Chef to help assist our Head Chef in the running of our food operation in our very busy kitchen at The Black Bear, located on the High Street of the market town of Whitchurch, North Shropshire, a 25 minute drive from Nantwich, Cheshire.
In September 2020 The Black Bear reopened after an extensive refurbishment which made way for a new kitchen, upstairs dining and a Private dining room and a new courtyard garden. Our menu is a combination of traditional pub classics, modern British cooking and small plates, ideal for sharing. We use fresh produce with the emphasis on quality all cooked in house from our kitchen.
This position would suit an experienced Sous Chef looking to take on the next level of management responsibility or an already experienced Senior Sous who is used to working in a busy kitchen environment.
You must be used to working in a busy pub environment with good knowledge of fresh food operations and be well organised, a good communicator and someone who loves the buzz of a busy service.
You will be responsible for running the daily food operation alongside the Head Chef. Leading a full chef team whilst developing and mentoring junior chefs,completing rotas and adhering to HACCP documentation and processes. Working alongside the Head Chef and General Manager and our Group Head Chef to create new dishes and develop relationships with suppliers to make sure we’re getting the best ingredients and achieving GP targets.
