Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POST:

The Senior Specialist – Application Operations is in charge of applications support as well as new releases into production. The holder of this position is a member of the 2nd level support team for applications and is involved in design and engineering activities supporting colleagues from these areas. The job holder may also be involved in coordinating the work of others, including possible co-sourced activities with vendors.

2. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

The successful candidate will have to carry out the following main duties:

  • Ensure the availability, security, capacity and technical evolution of the assigned applications to ensure proper delivery of the services to the end users;
  • Perform the support and maintenance activities for the deployed applications such as monitoring, configuration, incident and problem resolution;
  • Design, implement and maintain operational procedures, propose and implement new tools, working practices as well as sourcing options for the continuous improvement of the efficiency and quality of service;
  • Coordinate technical project work streams in an area of relevance and implement the necessary ICT operational processes, procedures and workflows, in order to continuously improve efficiency and agility;
  • Coordinate and steer internal and/or outsourced/co-sourced system administration cluster;
  • Give technical and procedural guidance to colleagues and provide instructions in order to effectively manage workflows, and inform management of any relevant issues;
  • Coordinate the structuring, development and maintenance of the technical knowledgebase supporting the ICT Infrastructure Operations activities;
  • Develop administrative procedures for recurring system administration activities and provide installation, technical support and maintenance documentation where required;
  • Provide technical and strategic advice on all matters pertaining to the continuous improvement of the operability and maintainability of the assigned portfolio of applications;
  • Draft reports as requested by the line management;Perform any other duties in the area of competence as assigned by line management.
