The ideal candidate must have considerable experience and a deep understanding of the global and domestic macroeconomic landscape, and its implications for foreign exchange rates, interest rates, and developments within the global and domestic bond and equity markets. Job Responsibilities The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include: Contribute to shaping Nedbank’s view of the global and domestic business cycle and longer-term structural shifts through regular reports, forecasts and presentations to internal and external stakeholders. The specific focus areas are: Leading and producing original and useful analysis, commentary and forecasts of foreign exchange rates Leading Nedbank’s analysis, commentary and forecasts of the local financial markets Producing thought-provoking analysis and commentary on global economy, macroeconomic policy developments and trends in global financial markets. Leading research into domestic and global trade, identifying underlying trends, potential risks and opportunities. Lead research on and produce forecasts of South Africa’s balance of payments. Expand Nedbank’s forecasting capacity by developing econometric and financial models to forecast exchange rates, local government bond yields, equity prices, and the components of the balance of payments. Build and manage Nedbank's economic database and the visualization of economic information to promote accessibility and enable understanding of the trends, risks and opportunities.4.  Provide professional inputs and guidance on the global and local economy to the bank’s credit committees Add value and insights to enable strategic decision making to Nedbank’s frontline clustersSupport and advise Nedbank’s clients by providing accurate information, in-depth analysis and reliable forecasts in response to specific requests.
