About the Role
The Salvation Army is seeking a Senior Specialist Family Violence Advisor (Child Protection) to take on a powerful and purposeful role in the Family Violence Child Protection Partnership (FVCPP). This is your chance to be a voice for victim-survivors, support front line practitioners, and embed trauma-informed, culturally safe practices where they are needed most.
As a key member of the co-located team, you will be embedded within a Child Protection office and work collaboratively with practitioners and senior managers. Your expert advice and secondary consultations will directly strengthen the safety, well being and outcomes of children and families impacted by family violence.
Reporting to the Family Violence Services Manager, this is a fixed-term part-time position, 30.4 hours per week, contracted until September 2026, based in Frankston, VIC. Enjoy flexibility with our hybrid work model—this part-time role includes the opportunity to work from home one day per fortnight.
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 6.

You will successfully

• Provide strategic and operational support to Child Protection staff during investigations involving family violence
• Help to build a stronger, safer responses by facilitating joint risk assessments, safety planning, and better information sharing
• Contribute to system change by enhancing partnerships between child protection and family violence services
• Deliver training and professional development to embed best practice
• Advocate for culturally safe, inclusive approaches—especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and other diverse communities

You will have

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent (must meet Family Violence Minimum Mandatory Qualification requirements)
• Extensive experience in the family violence service system (including leadership/supervisory roles preferred)
• Expert knowledge of local family violence support services, systems and referral pathways
• An understanding of Child Protection and the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
• Exceptional relationship management, advocacy and consultation skills
• Operate flexibly, including occasional after-hours work (with time-in-lieu)
• Keep meticulous records and contribute to continuous service improvement
• A current Driver’s Licence
• A current and valid Employee Working with Children’s Check
