Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POST

The Senior Specialist – Head of Office – ASO will oversee the provision of administrative and logistical support for the successful implementation of the ATLAS Annual Work Programme. This role will support the ATLAS Chairmanship by facilitating connections with strategic and operational experts at Europol, specifically in areas related to combating terrorism, serious, and organized crime. Additionally, the Team Leader will ensure the efficient management of training activities and the mapping of capabilities within the ATLAS network, contributing to the continuous development and operational effectiveness of the team.

2. FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

The incumbent carries out the following main functions and duties:

GENERAL HEAD OF OFFICE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organise the work of a group of individuals by assigning tasks and responsibilities;
  • Monitor task completion and quality of work;
  • Establish and enhance effective processes, working methodologies and communication channels while ensuring strict adherence to data protection regulation and upholding fundamental rights at all times;
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance, give input on objectives and assessments and provide learning opportunities;
  • Embrace diversity, foster an environment of collaboration, inclusion and fairness.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and coordinate the ASO, including budget coordination, ensuring the effective execution of ASO tasks, and serve as the primary point of contact for the ATLAS Chairmanship;
  • Draft the Annual Work Programme under the guidance of the ATLAS Chairmanship, incorporating project and activity proposals from individual ATLAS member units, and support its implementation;
  • Assist the ATLAS Chairmanship in preparing strategic reports and identifying opportunities to strengthen cooperation with the Counter Terrorism and Serious & Organized Crime communities by leveraging Europol’s tools and methodologies;
  • Facilitate operational coordination and communication between Europol and ATLAS member units, providing support upon request from Member States, while adhering to national remits and Europol’s data exchange and processing rules;
  • Enable the exchange of information between Europol and the ATLAS network by ensuring the availability and effective use of Europol’s IT and communication tools, and maintain the Europol Platform for Experts of ATLAS;
  • Collaborate with Europol’s Communication team to promote ATLAS activities and raise awareness of its work within the law enforcement community and the broader public;
  • Provide logistical and content-related support to the ATLAS Chairmanship in organizing and following up on training, conferences, and seminars for ATLAS member units;
  • Represent the ASO in internal meetings and external forums, establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant partners;
  • Perform any other duties in the area of competence as assigned by the line management.
