The Senior Staff Accountant – Audit plays a key role in delivering high-quality assurance and accounting services to clients in a variety of industries. This position will have a specific focus in performing audit and reviews as well as preparation and review of financial statements, corporate and personal tax returns. The successful candidate would ideally have experience in Audit, or a willingness and desire to learn.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to adapt to new technology
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel)

  • Ability to effectively problem-solve through different situations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thorough knowledge of business trends across the various industries we serve
  • Timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas, specifically audit
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in public practice
  • Completion of the Common Final Examination (CFE) or in progress is preferred
  • Experience using CaseWare, Doc.It, Tax Prep would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Conduct audits to assess compliance with regulations, identify risks, and recommend improvements to internal controls and business processes
  • Preparation and/or review of assurance engagements, financial statements and tax returns in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform tax planning, budgeting, cash flow analysis as needed
  • Preparation and review of personal tax returns in a professional manner
  • Foster a strong professional client relationship through positive interactions
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions
  • Maintain respectful and professional communication with fellow team members and government organizations and personnel
  • Support and guide junior staff on accounting tasks
  • Ensure accuracy of all financial reporting activity
  • Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, clients/customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders
  • Other duties as required
