REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience in a firm environment (lower-level accounting roles acceptable)
• Ability to understand trial balances and adjusting entries
• Exposure to preparing financial statements is a plus
• Familiarity with CaseWare is preferred but not mandatory
• Mature, responsible, and detail-oriented
• Education level is flexible – practical experience is valued

ABOUT THE ROLE:

My client, an excellent mid-sized accounting firm, is looking for a mature, reliable Accounting Technician with solid accounting knowledge. This is a hands-on role with limited client interaction, ideal for someone who enjoys day-to-day accounting tasks in a structured, supportive environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare payroll slips and T5 slips
• File GST/QST returns
• Record bank statements and perform basic bookkeeping ( 20%)
• Handle government correspondence (Revenue QC, CRA, other requests)
• Perform basic data entry and maintain accurate financial records
• Work with trial balances and make adjusting entries to ensure financial statements are accurate
• Assist in preparing financial statements, preferably using CaseWare
