SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant is able to perform difficult, complex, and analytical work with high levels of accuracy. The Senior Accountant is part of the team responsible for the school’s general accounting function and oversight of internal controls. They will maintain and safeguard records for the institution’s assets, including fixed assets, investments, bonds, and gift accounting.
KNOWLDEGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field; Master’s degree preferred; and at least three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
A criminal background check must be successfully completed before employment can begin.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job responsibilities are assigned by the Chief Financial who may, in their sole discretion, alter, add to, or eliminate job assignments at any time, with or without prior notice. The Senior Accountant is knowledgeable of accounting standards, audit, and internal control protocols, all applicable federal and state statutes, familiar with the operations of the department, and is proficient with the technology designed to support that operations.

This position may supervise and review activities and work of accounting department staff, in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer and Controller.
