POSITION OVERVIEW:

Moonwalk Biosciences is recruiting a Senior or Staff Bioinformatics Scientist/Engineer to join our multidisciplinary R&D team. This individual will play a key role in advancing Moonwalk’s mission to develop first-in-class medicines through the discovery and functional characterization of novel therapeutic targets. As a core member of the computational biology group, you will help transform complex multi-modal datasets into actionable insights to guide target selection and therapeutic development.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages: Python, R, C/C++, Go, Rust, or equivalent.
• Experience developing pipelines and tools to process sequencing data.
• Familiarity with cloud computing environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and workflow management systems (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake, Cromwell/WDL).
• Deep understanding of statistical analysis and data visualization methods for genomics datasets.
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage biotech environment.
• Track record of impactful contributions, including peer-reviewed publications or open-source tool development.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience with epigenomics datasets (e.g., bisulfite sequencing, ATAC-seq, chromatin accessibility profiling).
• Background in multi-omics integration or machine learning applications in genomics.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices and containerization (e.g., Docker) in pipeline deployment.

• Develop and maintain reproducible, scalable, and cloud-based pipelines for processing diverse NGS datasets (e.g., RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, DNA methylation, single-cell).
• Perform rigorous data analysis to identify patterns, biomarkers, and candidate therapeutic targets from high-dimensional genomic and epigenomic datasets.
• Collaborate with wet-lab biologists, data scientists, and machine learning experts to interpret results and refine experimental design.
• Document methods, pipelines, and results clearly and reproducibly for both internal stakeholders and external communication.
