Job Purpose Perform advanced professional and technical tasks, ranging from inspections, reporting, plan preparation and review, and contract administration, while focusing on improving current processes and procedures and mentoring junior level team members. May also assist the project lead on various aspects of a project within the incumbent's area of expertise, including financial administration, budgeting, and manpower planning. - Requirements Duties and Responsibilities Prepare drawings, specifications, cost estimates, project schedules, and other work for accuracy, presentation and conformance with established construction/engineering practices and applicable codes and standards in preparation for issuance to client. Identify complex problems and devise optimal and innovative solutions to problems that often cross organizational boundaries. Perform a variety of project activities including, but not limited to, preparation and review of construction contracts; conduct pre-construction conferences; approval of time schedules; review and approve pay requests; evaluate and approve change orders; solve construction problems; perform final inspection and project close out duties. Attend and serve as staff/representative for pre-design, pre-bid, and pre-construction meetings related to assigned projects. Travel to jobsites of assigned engineering projects; note work progress and possible problem areas; report findings to supervisory staff as necessary; resolve project problems by reviewing and commenting on proposed modifications of design, construction change orders, and related methods. Strictly adheres to the office standards, policies, and project schedules. Informs, in a timely manner, project manager and/or supervisor regarding any conflicts/issues that relate to his/her work. Escalate, in a timely manner, potential conflicts/issues that may affect project deliverables. Enter time accurately daily and completes projects on budget. Learning is a required assignment for all employees. Professional Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university or documented equivalent combination of education and professional experience in related engineering field. Active Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or active registration in another state with the ability to reciprocate to Florida within six months of beginning employment preferred. CBI certification is preferred, with the ability to obtain CBI certification within six (6) months of employment, if needed. Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver's License and reliable transportation required. Minimum Experience 4+ years of post-degree work experience, which must have involved construction, design, inspection, or estimating. Structural, architectural, MEP, forensics, restoration, and/or building envelope consulting services experience preferred. Skills and Abilities English proficiency: Fluent (Speak, read, understand, interpret content and write). Consistently demonstrates extremely high levels of technical knowledge, ingenuity, and creativity. Developing and applying advanced technologies, engineering principles, theories, and concepts. Possess broad knowledge about the design and construction/installation of building systems outside of his/her specialty. Widely recognized as a technical expert within the professional community. Providing guidance to several groups/teams of the organization. Exercising independent initiative/judgement in setting and implementing goals. Physical Demands* Necessary to perform the assigned duties safely and effectively: Ability to sit with back at a 90-degree angle for up to 8 hours per day. Ability to look at a computer for up to 8 hours per day. Ability to stand upright for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas (uneven terrain, exposure to outdoor weather elements) Bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, laying, crawling, and twisting required up to 30% of the time in this role. Must be able to ride in a hoist and/or swing stage. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds at times. Must be able to use right and left foot for repetitive movements as in operating controls or levers. Full dexterity of wrists and fingers required with repetitive motions. Must be able to see near, in the distance, color, depth, and range. *Safety equipment, including but not limited to hard hat, OSHA approved footwear, safety glasses and safety vests, is always required while performing job functions on active construction sites. Safety gloves, ear plugs, and safety harness will be issued when appropriate. *Riding in a hoist and/or in a swing stage to be performed under strict adherence to the OSHA standards. Climbing ladders and scaffolds to be performed under strict adherence to the OSHA standards.
