Employment Type: Full Time , Temporary Position Classification: Staff Specialist 1-5 / Senior Staff Specialist (LP7417) Total Salary Range: $288,713 to $386,991 (pro rata for part-time positions) excluding Attraction and Retention Incentive Base Salary: $204,936 to $274,696 The starting salary will be negotiated based on the candidate's experience and expertise. Additional Allowances: Includes a Private Practice Scheme Allowance and an on-call allowance (17.4%25 of base salary plus Private Practice Allowance). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist care for ICU/HDU patients in within the intensive care unit and support for critically unwell and deteriorating patients in the wider hospital. They will play a key role in teaching and supporting junior doctors within the unit and across the hospital. Additionally, the role involves close liaison with patients and families to ensure compassionate care, active participation in the hospital's quality and safety initiatives, and contribution to research undertaken in the unit. North Canberra is a level 5 10-bed combined ICU/HDU which can care for up to 5 ICU level (or equivalent HDU) patients at any one time. The unit manages a case mix of adult medical and surgical patients and is closely supported by the nearby tertiary ICU. North Canberra ICU is recognised as a C6 unit for CICM training and supports rotating trainees within the ACT. Our team of specialist intensivists brings expertise across anaesthesia and pain medicine, retrieval medicine, general medicine, and echocardiography and proudly boasts a collaborative and innovative environment. The position holder is expected to operate within the Public Sector Management Act (1994), the ACT Public Service Code of Conduct and the professional requirements specified by the appointee’s Specialist College.
