Overview
Responsible for filing the Company’s personal and commercial lines rates, rules, and forms filings with state departments of insurance via the System for Electronic Rates and Form Filings (SERFF), ensuring compliance with applicable law and guidelines. Interface with insurance regulators and internal business partners to resolve compliance issues, develop relationships, and position the Company for speed to market. Offer expert technical knowledge to our internal business partners about filing regulations, processes, and procedures, as well as regulator expectations. Effectively communicate strategies, status, and filing results to internal and external stakeholders. Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement. Maintain all required documentation. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

KNOWLEDGE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced PC skills in MS Office (word, excel, power point), Adobe PDF, Internet / Intranet search skills
  • Exceptional analytical skills coupled with exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with report generation tools and data analysis. General knowledge of insurance industry strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex assignments
  • Knowledge of SERFF database

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • College degree preferred (or commensurate industry experience)
  • 5+ years of related work experience in a state filings or product development capacity for property and casualty insurance
  • Associate in Regulatory Compliance (ARC) or other designations such as AINS, MCM, CPCU are preferred.

    The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective’s footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for end-to-end state filings project management including the development of strategies for filings of countrywide, complex products in Selective’s admitted states.
  • Provide consultative services to internal stakeholders regarding SERFF and State Filing protocols to ensure compliance with State requirements.
  • Prepare and submit commercial lines bureau-related and independent property and casualty rate, rule and form filing documents to State Departments of Insurance (DOI) in accordance with state filing requirements and within established timeframes.
  • Develop and maintain process manuals on related State Filings tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Prepare reports as needed to demonstrate filings trends, including detailed analysis of objections, state and line of business volume, and internal/external key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Build relationships with state analysts from the department of insurance in assigned areas. Participate in insurance committees, industry and trade associations, and bureaus to develop industry relationships and stay current with emerging issues.
  • Make autonomous decisions and resolves complex problems encountered in rate, rule, and form filing processes.
  • Perform other related complex analyses and tasks as needed to support the team and/or requested by management.
