THE OPPORTUNITY

The Infrastructure Services team seeks an experienced Senior Storage Engineer who will be responsible for the planning, delivery and performance of complex data storage and related systems in support of strategic business priorities. This includes managing and planning data storage and backup systems to agreed service levels; creating, improving, and supporting the optimal utilisation of storage resources; ensuring data security, availability and integrity of business data and developing standards, procedures and guidelines for implementing data protection and disaster recovery functionality for business applications and data. Critical to the success of the role is the ability to engage and influence senior level stakeholders, coordinating the planning for change and improvements to ensure the optimal delivery of system benefits aligned with user expectations.
Providing expert advice as a mentor and escalation point the Senior Storage Engineer will build capability by adopting and promoting best practice, policies and standards in relation to storage management, backup and security.

To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will have:

  • Substantial experience in the planning, development and implementation of complex data storage technologies, coupled with a proven ability to build organisational capability in storage management, backup and security
  • Advanced understanding of server and operating systems (Windows, Linux, VMware ESX), storage technologies (NetApp, IBM), cloud (AWS) and backup management (PowerProtect Data Manager, Data Domain, Commvault)
  • Highly-developed planning and organisational skills, with experience establishing priorities and meeting deadlines in a large, complex organisation
  • Excellent relationship management and consulting skills including with demonstrated ability to influence technical outcomes authoritative advice
  • Highly-developed analytical and conceptual skills including demonstrated ability to conceptualise, develop and translate complex business issues into innovative, workable solutions
