We’re looking for a Senior Strategy Advisor who can identify opportunities to do things differently, and brings a sharp commercial lens to strategic thinking. In this role, you’ll be a key architect of Meridian’s future, shaping our strategy, guiding investment decisions, and supporting Merger & Acquisition (M&A) activity that positions us for long-term success. You’ll work across the business to ensure our strategy is not only visionary but actionable, embedded, and aligned. You’ll also bring a strong corporate finance skillset to the table, helping us evaluate opportunities, manage risk, and unlock new value pools in an evolving energy system. Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing Shape the Future: Continuously evolve Meridian’s Group Strategy to ensure it’s fit for purpose, both now and into the future. Embed Strategy Across the Business: Work closely with business units to align their strategies with the Group’s direction and ensure everyone is paddling the waka in the same direction. Unlock New Value Pools: Identify innovative opportunities that keep Meridian competitive in a fast-changing energy landscape. Drive M&A Activity: Support the full lifecycle of mergers and acquisitions, from early-stage ideation to integration planning. Evaluate Strategic Investments: Assess opportunities through a commercial lens and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations. Deliver Financial Insights: Provide best-practice financial modelling and analysis to support high-quality decision-making. Advise and Influence: Be a trusted strategic advisor to senior leaders, offering challenge, clarity, and counsel. Strategic story telling: Contribute to and at times lead strategic engagements with Meridian’s Executive team, Board, and external stakeholders. Market Intelligence: Undertake regular scanning of market trends and competitor activity. Ngā pukenga kei a koe mō tenei tūranga | What you’ll bring You will have deep experience in strategy development, execution and/or Merger and Acquisition Activity. Corporate Finance skillset and experience (preferred) Strong experience in New Zealand's electricity market Confident presenter and a strong ability to present information in an engaging and easy to understand way. Experience in managing senior partnerships and influencing at all levels. Experience in the production of financial reports especially interim and annual reports.
