SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Location: Derby, UK
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Flexible Working Hours)
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (Negotiable, Depending on Experience)

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in a UK-based structural consultancy
  • Proven track record of managing projects and/or small teams
  • Excellent knowledge of structural design in timber, masonry, steel, and concrete
  • Strong proficiency in UK and European design codes
  • Experience with structural analysis/design software (e.g., Tekla, Tedds, Robot, etc.)
  • Confident producing reports, surveys, and fee proposals
  • Survey and report writing experience or willingness to learn
  • Chartered or actively working towards IStructE or ICE chartership
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport desirable

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join a highly skilled and collaborative team of engineers in Derby. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced structural engineer looking to lead projects, develop technical expertise, and make an impact on a wide range of exciting and unique structural design challenges.
You’ll work on a diverse mix of projects, including bespoke new builds, refurbishments, heritage structures, and sustainable reuse developments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering projects from concept to completion
  • Produce detailed structural designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
  • Conduct structural appraisals for commercial, residential, and heritage buildings
  • Attend and contribute to project meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Manage project costs, timelines, sustainability targets, and technical quality
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and CAD/Revit technicians
  • Prepare and review technical drawings, reports, and structural surveys
  • Support business development and contribute to securing new projects
