You've done the compliance-heavy jobs. You've done the run-of-the-mill fit-outs. What you haven't done yet is stand in front of a client as the engineer they call first, on work that ends up in a case study.
This is a tier 1 engineering consultancy with a footprint across Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Thousands of people, but a Building Structures practice still lean enough that you'll own the client relationship directly rather than sit behind a project director.
The practice is growing fast, and this hire exists because the pipeline across public buildings, transport, and data centres has outgrown the current team.
You'll lead design and analysis on bespoke concrete and steel structures, the kind that don't come out of a template. You'll be the one clients call, not the one who finds out about the call after it happens.
You'll sign off on design documentation, drawings, specs, reports, and stay involved through the construction phase, not hand it off and move on. You'll also guide junior engineers coming through, reviewing their calcs and details, shaping how they think, not just checking their work.
Flexibility is real here, not a line in the ad. If you want quiet time to focus on a tricky analysis, you'll get it. If you want to be office-based some days and remote others, that's normal.
If you'd rather stay behind the model and let someone else run the client conversation, this one's not for you. If you want the accountability that comes with being the name clients ask for, keep reading.
