Description:

An exciting and challenging long term contract opportunity has arisen with our global LNG client for a Senior Structural Engineer within a major LNG decommissioning project to provide input into the development of removal and disposal scopes. Reporting directly to the Delivery Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the technical review and approval of detailed engineering reports, calculation, removal procedures, method statements, and quality procedures/plans. You will have experience in liaising with inter-disciplinary contractors, ranging from; heavy lift contractors, engineering, technical safety, and environmental, and marine warranty assurance services contractors on reviews, inspections, and approvals of project documentation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assess potential use of alternative technologies in order to reduce decommissioning costs;
  • Monitor Contractor’s performance and provide guidance as necessary to ensure adherence to Regulatory, Class, and Company design requirements;
  • Supervise the development of schedules, estimates, and scopes of work for the Execute phase;
  • Support the tendering process and review of proposals for relevant works in order to recommend most suitable contractors, and then subsequently the contract negotiations following tendering of scope of work;
  • Review and validate lifting analysis, global temporary in-place analysis, motion & transport analysis, sea fastening design, towing and anchoring analysis in line with appropriate codes and standards;
  • Review initial installation documents, including; topside and jackets weights, in-service history and modifications (major and minor), review manufacturer data sheets, plot plans, and offshore weight verification surveys;
  • Review topside and jacket integrity reports, and inspection reports for the installations to be decommissioned, liaise with the integrity department to identify structural anomalies and establish the current integrity condition of the installations;
  • Define, lead and coordinate offshore inspections (VI, UT, RT, MPI, and ECI) for dismantlement scope and assist with marine warranty services scopes and operation Safety Critical Tasks;
  • Recommend strategy for the removal of offshore platforms as well as subsea pipelines and structures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Chartered Engineer in Structural Engineering with relevant experience in the dismantlement of offshore assets, and/or as a in the Oil & Gas, renewables, transport and installation, heavy lift or marine engineering sector;
  • Minimum 15yrs, preferably with supervisory experience in engineering, project management, planning, logistics and relevant legislation, and will have executed multiple offshore construction and/or decommissioning projects, including reverse floatover operations for large fixed platforms;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop and present management reports;
  • Analytical/technical skills with a practical approach to problem solving;
  • Previous experience of working in Timor-Leste or Australia and knowledge of regulatory regimes advantageous
