Many of the world’s top engineers and scientists come together in our Water business because they view a community’s interaction with water a bit differently—as a single holistic system, rather than unconnected networks divided by jurisdictional boundaries. Working throughout the hydrologic cycle, we are delivering sustainable solutions to make sure water is where it should be and available when needed. Our experts guide our work with scientific rigor, an innovative spirit, and a vision for growth. Every day, we help communities improve, reuse, and protect this precious resource for future generations. Grow with us, H2O+U.
Your Opportunity
Stantec has an immediate need for a talented, team focused Senior Structural Engineer to join our highly successful water practice in Burnaby, BC. This role will be tasked with leading and building a structural team within the water group in British Columbia, with support from the Structural North American Discipline Lead and Structural Team Lead.
This is an office-based position and requires attendance at the Stantec Burnaby office 5 days a week.
As a Senior Structural Engineer your role is to lead the structural design on a variety of hydraulic structure projects including large high-profile projects both locally and across North America. This role will lead and manage projects as a Structural Team Lead (STL) and Project Manager (PM) and will mentor younger engineers and EITs. You will be responsible for preparing designs and ensuring the development and delivery of successful structural projects for a variety of both new construction and rehabilitation designs of hydraulic, environmental, industrial and general structures.
The Senior Structural Engineer will act as an advisor; be engaged in Quality Control (QC) and Independent Technical Reviews (ITR); and be actively involved in meeting schedules and resolving problems to successfully deliver projects. Typical design projects may include large water retaining structures, pumping stations, tanks, wastewater facilities, dams, riser structures, and a variety of other water related structures.
This position will be responsible for managing projects related to scope development, schedule, and integration of other disciplines, CADD, subconsultants, and junior structural engineers. It is expected that the Senior Structural Engineer supports business development endeavors, client management, and the development of proposals and cost estimates in addition to the planning, design, and direction of structural engineering projects.
