QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University Degree in Civil-Structural Engineering or related discipline is preferred
  • 12+ years of related engineering experience is considered an asset
  • Registered or eligible to register with the PEO as a P.ENG
  • Preferably has previous exposure to stations, structures and components of Nuclear Power Plants.
  • Experience within the utility or power industry is considered an asset
  • Proficiency in structural design for concrete and steel structures and use of STAAD Pro Software for Structural Analysis
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance
Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE:

We are currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for our GTA offices. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various engineering assignments which require a general familiarity with a broad field of engineering. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Structural Engineer will primarily focus on design for brown field as well as green field modifications for existing and/or new structures and components. Must be able to solve problems by use of combinations of standard and modified standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for supervising large groups of professionals and non-professionals or small groups of specialized engineers or as a highly specialized technical engineer in the Power sector.
  • The ability to lead large or small projects is an asset
  • The candidate will be capable of committing to and maintaining a project timeline and completing tasks within allocated time frames.
  • The ability to document and track project tasks and related design documents is required (strong organizational skills)
  • Liaise with other discipline leads, project managers, vendors, contractors and clients to facilitate smooth flow of information for use in preparing preliminary and detailed design and provide design clarifications and solutions during construction.
  • Must have strong computer-oriented skills (familiarity with Autocad, MathCad, MS Office, Numerical Methods Solutions…etc.)
  • Proficiency in STAAD Pro Software for Structural Analysis.
  • Strong hand-on expertise in the design of heavy industrial structures (steel, concrete, wood, masonry), preferably in the power generation industry, and Consulting Engineering experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of power plant Station Structures and Components (SSCs) is an asset.
  • Preparation and/or verification of procurement activities and deliverables.
  • Review technical content of supplier/vendor bids and technical submissions.
  • Perform any required inspections as necessary for procurement of material.
  • Strong communication skills are required
