Teqniq is searching for a Senior Structures Engineer CTL to work in the public sector.
37 hours per week.
26 weeks contract.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide technical expertise in the support of the management of the workplace’s portfolio of structures and to maintain inspection and survey data reports to statutory requirements.
To undertake design, contract preparation and supervision of the implementation of structural engineering works relating to Infrastructure assets.
To provide structural engineering advice to client officers, senior managers, elected members and members of the public as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS:

The post holder will be required to comply with organisation’s policies and procedures.
The postholder should be available to work flexibly in respect of the requirements of the post, which may on occasions include working outside of normal working hours.
The postholder should be able to visit sites within the city boundary.
The postholder should hold a current, full UK driving licence.
The organisation has a no smoking policy. Staff are not permitted to smoke on any of the organisation’s premises nor in any vehicle used on organisation business.

Responsibilities

To undertake feasibility studies and to prepare reports, bids and presentations as required by the service area.
The post holder is required to comply with legislation relevant to the post e.g. Health and Safety At Work Act, Construction Design & Management Regulations 2015.
To monitor the activities of contractors, sub-contractors and statutory undertakers on site and to check that the quality of work complies with the specification.
To liaise as necessary with external consultants in the delivery of technical services, specialised structural inspections and monitoring.
To mentor staff under their supervision with all aspects of civil engineering.
To lead on the project management of structural engineering activities as assigned.
To inspect and monitor civil engineering works on site.
To contribute to the maintenance and provision of information relating to the performance management of structural engineering, in terms of project performance.
To provide information resulting from enquiries under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Public liaison in respect of day-to-day activities.
To take responsibility on behalf of the workplace in the delivery of the Technical Approval Authority process.
To assist the Team Manager – Assets & Planning in the provision of comprehensive management and financial information to support funding application bids.
To liaise and work successfully with external organisations and a range of other corporate colleagues in the delivery of projects.
To represent the workplace at meetings with external funding bodies and various stakeholders.
Ensure that all structural inspections are completed to the appropriate standard and within required time frames in respect to the Highway Structures inventory.
To establish systems of control to ensure compliance with the recommended schedule of structural inspections.
To provide relevant information to the Team Manager – Assets & Planning for the further development of the Highway Asset Management Plan.
To be responsible for providing recommendations on potential structural repairs to the Team Manager – Assets & Planning with relevant Technical information, which will form the basis of Capital and Revenue programmes and funding bids.
To undertake structural design where appropriate using relevant software/CAD in accordance with the relevant British Standards.
