We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Student Affairs Office: Major Duties and Responsibilities The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following: Leading the Scholarships and Financial Assistance Section, supervising staff, and overseeing a diverse portfolio of scholarships, bursaries, grants, and loan schemes to enhance students’ learning opportunities; Reviewing and refining policies and regulations for various student financial support schemes funded by the Government, the University, and external donors; Supporting University-wide student system enhancements, with a leadership role in automating the administration of scholarships and financial assistance; Identifying and implementing new financial schemes based on students’ evolving needs; Developing educational initiatives to foster students’ financial planning and management skills, coaching them to realise their full potential, and strengthening connections with various stakeholders; Creating initiatives that encourage student beneficiaries to remain engaged and contribute after graduation, helping to cultivate community, mentorship, and ongoing support networks; Providing professional secretarial support to relevant committees, preparing reports, and conducting analyses to enhance the delivery of financial assistance services; and Performing any other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Affairs or his/her nominee. Candidates Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence: A recognised degree, preferably at the postgraduate level (Master’s or above), in a relevant discipline; At least 10 years of substantial post-qualification experience in student scholarships, financial assistance, or related areas, with a proven record of leading teams and managing complex operations within higher education or comparable institutions; Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives, inspire and supervise multi-disciplinary teams, mentor staff for professional growth, and foster a culture of excellence. Experienced in supervising staff and managing cross-functional projects is essential; Resilience and flexibility in navigating ambiguity and handling emergencies at a strategic level, with sound judgment and the capacity to prioritise competing demands; Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and organisational skills, combined with a collaborative, service-oriented mindset. Experienced in stakeholder engagement, committee management, and partnership development is highly valued; Strong self-motivation, initiative, and a sense of ownership, with demonstrated problem-solving capabilities. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across senior management and diverse teams; Comprehensive understanding of student financial support schemes offered by the HKSAR Government, the University, and external donors, including experience in policy review and enhancement; and Excellent command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua), with advanced written and verbal communication skills suitable for executive-level reporting and stakeholder engagement; Candidates may be invited to attend a written test.
