Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience.
UCL’s Education Services department is part of Student and Registry Services and is responsible for providing a range of services that centre around UCL’s education and student experience policy framework. The department plays a key role in ensuring that our regulation, policy, and student engagement framework support the delivery of UCL’s education strategy and our compliance with Office for Students ‘B conditions’.
The Student Welcome and Induction team are responsible for ensuring that students joining UCL receive a positive and consistent experience that provides strong foundations for them to undertake their studies and make the most of their time at UCL. This involves working with colleagues across the institution to ensure that a coordinated and well-managed set of activities and communications are available to students, and that inclusion is at the heart of UCL’s welcome and induction processes, meeting the needs of all UCL’s communities.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a key member of the Student Welcome and Induction team, the postholder is responsible for the coordination, development, and delivery of the UCL Transition Programme for first-year undergraduate students. The Transition Programme is a mentoring scheme, where second- or third-year students are matched to first year students within the same department. The mentors provide support and help new students settle in during their first term.
The postholder will also play a key role in supporting the delivery of a coordinated Welcome and Induction experience across both the Bloomsbury and UCL East campuses.

This role will be fixed-term until 3 March 2026 in the first instance, available to start immediately.
It will also be available on an internal secondment basis to current UCL staff.
This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.
