POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible to coordinate follow and continuously develop all RCL Newbuilding HVAC discipline technologies related to guidelines analysis concept and basic design for example but not necessarily limited to General Arrangement as applicable The Superintendent is also responsible to create and follow up program for the Newbuilding design inspection and approval processes and responsible to communicate and share the ongoing activities and information with RCL Fleet vessels
Sharing of responsibilities related to systems and areas will be separately agreed for each project

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Extensive experience of marine and mechanical technologies especially from the own field of expertise
  • Good ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Capable to analyze needs and product requirements to create a new design
  • Capable to handle large systems and development projects simultaneously
  • Ensure good and strong co-operation with shipyards suppliers development partners and colleagues
  • Ability to work under tight schedules
  • Able to team work in multicultural working environment and willingness to travel

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Adequate education M Sc Marine Technology/Naval Architecture/Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum five years if experience in the area of newbuilding marine technologies
  • Excellent knowledge of ship HVAC technologies
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology This includes applying principles techniques procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • In-depth knowledge of SOLAS IMO and other relevant regulations
  • Excellent written & verbal English other languages as an advantage
  • High level communications skills Ability proactively to create and maintain strong relationships with suppliers development partners and with remote based colleagues
  • Independent and self-oriented working and leadership skills
  • Relevant computer skills

Responsibilities
  • Prepares specification (outline and detail) for all projects and updates specifications based on discussions with internal departments
  • Follow-up and reporting of building progress
  • Applies relevant rules and regulations in the development of cruise ship design and building including evaluation of new technology
  • Communicates with RCL fleet ships when found necessary
  • Responsible for coordinating inspections and guidelines in HVAC
  • Coordinates input to the projects from in-house sources site offices architects and other consultants
  • Participates approval processes for factory acceptance test (FAT) and quay and sea trial procedures
  • Follows and applies development in technology of above mentioned areas
  • Ensures that all innovations and Lessons Learned from existing fleet will be implemented on future NB projects
  • Communicates with potential makers and systems designers
    Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the scope of the project
