Senior Supply Chain & Logistics Specialist

Location: Markham, ON - OnsiteSalary: $80,000Industry: Defense and Space Manufacturing

Role OverviewModern Technical Staffing is seeking a Senior Supply Chain & Logistics Specialist to own day‑to‑day procurement and logistics execution across engineering, test, manufacturing, and launch programs. You will source and quote suppliers, run purchase orders from requisition through receipt, hold vendors accountable to delivery commitments, and ensure hardware, equipment, and materials are where they need to be at every stage of development and operations.

Reports to: VP of Operations Works closely with: Engineering Leads, AIT Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance, Launch Program Director, Finance, external suppliers & logistics providers

  • What You’ll DoManage full procurement lifecycle: sourcing, quoting, PO issuance, delivery tracking, and receipt.
  • Stay ahead of material needs tied to design releases, build schedules, and test timelines.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms; reserve manufacturing slots with key suppliers.
  • Escalate and recover late deliveries; resolve supplier issues across quality, payment, and logistics.
  • Maintain backup suppliers for critical materials and components.
  • Coordinate transport, handling, and storage of flight hardware, test articles, propulsion components, and hazardous materials.
  • Support remote/off‑site test and launch logistics.
  • Oversee receiving, inspection, warehousing, kitting, and inventory accuracy.
  • Forecast material requirements and identify long‑lead items to prevent schedule impacts.
  • Support first article inspections and component qualification.


  • Qualifications4+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or logistics within aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, automotive, or similarly complex hardware environments.
  • Hands‑on experience buying engineered components, raw materials, and technical services.
  • Proven track record of negotiating with suppliers and recovering late deliveries; comfortable escalating.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and incoming inspection practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage many concurrent POs and logistics activities.
  • Effective communicator across engineering, quality, finance, and operations; able to hold vendors accountable while maintaining relationships.
  • Tenacious, analytical problem‑solver who identifies supply risks early and drives solutions under schedule pressure.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada and eligible for CGP registration.
