Job Title: Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home
Location: B47, Birmingham
Salary: £31,000 – £34,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Hours: Shift-based, including evenings, weekends, and sleeps (rota-based)
About the Role:
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team in a children’s residential home based in B47, Birmingham. This is a key role, supporting young people with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties, and helping to create a safe, stable, and nurturing environment where they can thrive.
As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be a role model for staff and young people alike, leading by example and supporting the day-to-day running of the home. You’ll work closely with management to ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centred care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care and support to young people, promoting their safety, development, and well-being
  • Lead shifts, support junior staff, and ensure consistent practice across the team
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and reports in line with regulatory standards
  • Build positive relationships with young people, staff, families, and external professionals
  • Support with the development and training of the staff team

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential
  • Experience working in a children’s residential setting – minimum 1 year in a senior or shift lead role preferred
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, care planning, and behaviour management
  • Confident, calm, and resilient with excellent communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence – essential
