Description

Oaktree Education Services are seeking a passionate and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our Supported Accommodation team. This role is providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for young people aged 16–18, while also supporting, mentoring, and developing our staff team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a residential or supported living setting.
  • Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Residential Childcare or similar.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by 16–18 year-olds in supported accommodation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a dual role:

  • Supporting young people to reach their potential through guidance, structure, and encouragement.
  • Acting as a mentor and role model for staff, ensuring the highest quality standards of care and compliance are maintained.

You will work closely with the Head of Supported Accommodation and Deputy Manager to ensure our homes are safe, supportive, and meet all regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mentor and support new and existing staff through weekly mentor supervisions.
  • Oversee probation booklets and ensure staff access relevant training.
  • Model best practice and uphold safeguarding procedures in line with Oaktree policies.
  • Maintain and update young people’s records, appointments, and information sheets.
  • Promote and uphold high standards of professionalism, compliance, and care across all shifts.
  • Support induction, training, and ongoing staff development alongside the Deputy Manager.
  • Complete monthly fire drills and fire alarm checks, recording outcomes.
  • Participate in the on-call rota (minimum 1 shift per month).
  • Attend LAC reviews, PEPs, and SEN meetings as required.
  • Undertake administrative duties and contribute to monthly team meetings.
