We are looking for enthusiastic, resilient, and motivated individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally, and behaviorally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.
Salary: £31,000 - £34,299.20 (Inclusive of sleeps)
Location: Plymouth
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift pattern: 16 - 24 hours (including Sleep-in) on a one on two off or two on four off basis.We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Children’s Support Worker to join a fantastic and modern residential children’s home in Plymouth. You’ll be supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 years old with Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and challenging behaviors.
No two days are ever the same, so you need to be happy to work in a busy, ever-changing environment. It is challenging, but incredibly rewarding work!
Due to the nature of the job, we will only accept candidates who hold a Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities of a Children’s Support Worker

  • Encourage young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives, depending on their age.
  • Maintain the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • Be able to deal with challenging behaviors when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and to promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people.
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual’s care plan, guidelines, reward system, and preferred method of communication.
  • Support taxing behavior safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers, and other professionals who may be involved in the young people’s lives, such as psychologists.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Children’s Support Worker or with Young People is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within another healthcare or social care setting is desirable but not essential.
  • You must be a car driver as you will be required to transport young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • You must be able to commute to Plymouth.
