Our 65+ person Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) Technical Discipline is one of the largest in SLR Australia featuring an expert, close-nit and supportive team of both Surface and Groundwater Engineers. Due to continued organic growth and a strong pipeline of projects, we are seeking a Senior or Associate Surface Water Engineer with 5 + years’ experience in Brisbane. We have a strong pipeline of work and a focus on technical excellence and strong client relationships. We work in a collaborative environment across our H&H teams in Brisbane, Townsville, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and closely with other SLR environmental specialists. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, and government. Responsibilities Working on a variety of surface water projects for key national clients at SLR You will be responsible for the following: Developing, facilitating and enhancing relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members Apply your best-practice Surface water engineering skills to solve complex engineering problems Contributing to winning work by identifying and converting opportunities and drawing on your client relationships Providing advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Manager's on projects regarding best principles and practices You will be a strong generalist who can review work and be commercially savvy Project management as well as tenders/proposals preparation On site and in field programs, data analysis and interpretation, and high-level reporting Experience Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of industry experience, including experience within a consultancy group, and have: Appropriate Civil or Environmental Engineering qualifications, with Post graduate qualification highly regarded. RPEQ is highly desirable but not a necessity. For those working towards qualification, study support and mentorship is a pillar of SLR’s development focussed culture. Proficiency in Water balance modelling and analysis (preferably using GoldSim) Proficiency in hydrological modelling and assessments (RORB, WBNM and XP RAFTS) and understanding of Australian Rainfall and Runoff and relevant guidelines and standards. Proficiency in two-dimensional hydraulic modelling (TUFLOW); Strong ability in Geospatial data analysis, interrogation and manipulation (QGIS, ArcGIS) Experience undertaking impact assessments for Local, State and Federal regulatory approvals. Assessment and input into design of water management infrastructure Strong communication skills including technical report writing Demonstrated experience managing large multidisciplinary projects throughout the project lifecycle Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships Excellent driving history and hold a current driver's license Our Benefits Of all the benefits at SLR, we are most proud of our diverse, collaborative expert team.
